The show has been quick to silently gain a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Summary:

  • HBO’s 2021 show hasn’t been the object of everyone’s talks, yet its highest ratings for all 3 seasons speak volumes.
  • The plot follows two comedians who are set to work together while both are struggling to achieve their career goals on their own.
  • The show may owe its overall success to the fact that it explores usually ignored themes like ageism or female friendships.

You may not see it that often, but something like this does exist. It’s been only several days since HBO’s comedy drama show Hacks starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder got its third season released, but it already caught a wow score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, a third one in a row.

While the brand new season features only two first episodes with more coming to the platform on May 9, the rating has now lowered to 97%, but it’s still more than most of the hyping shows can boast of these days.

Launched back in 2021, Hacks hasn’t gone very viral in the media since then, yet managed to land with impressive results that don’t seem to lose ground anytime soon.

Is Hacks Worth Watching?

Hacks follows a duo of stand-up comedy diva Deborah Vance and young, though luckless comedy writer Ava Daniels. Before they’re connected to start working together, both have their own struggles that could be easily resolved with their mutual help.

Deborah faces the realization of her outdated comedy that could cost her the residency at the Palmetto Casino while Ava is desperate to find any kind of job after her reputation was undermined by a controversial tweet.

When both comedians’ managers set them together, Deborah and Ava seem to be far from being a match made in heaven as they struggle to understand each other. However, over the course of the time, both start seeing in each other something that will be able to revive their careers.

What Is Hacks Season 3 About?

Hacks’ season 3 now finds Deborah getting her thriving career back as she goes on without Ava’s help while the latter is off to Los Angeles seeking new career opportunities.

The show’s raving success may be due to its main themes going throughout the whole storyline like ageism or a diversity of female friendship, something that, despite all the relevancy in modern society, isn’t highlighted that much on TV.

Since its first season’s release, Hacks garnered a whole jackpot with seasons 1 and 2 immediately landing 100% on Rotten Tomatoes; season 3 was also there holding a bit less now, but the series yet has plenty of time to bring another 100% back to its collection.

All seasons of Hacks can now be streamed on Max.
