And it finally confirms that Joker’s biggest dream has come true.

Summary:

  • Though Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie À Deux won’t hit the cinemas across the globe right until October, the first ever trailer of the upcoming film comes as something pretty much revealing about the nature of the main characters’ relationships.
  • One particular scene in the brand new trailer makes fans rave about its subtleness, but its meaning can also be much deeper than everyone thinks.
  • Though the scene appears to pretend to have a mind-blowing effect thanks to its cinematic brilliance, it also may hint at the main character’s big evolution compared to the first film.

Todd Phillips’s sequel for his 2019’s Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix is, with no doubt, the most anticipated movie of the whole year. Initially being just a one-film-long story, the drama in the second movie expands to much bigger and deeper prospects, also bringing Lady Gaga ’s Harley Quinn to accompany Joker on the stage.

And while we’re still several months away from witnessing the upcoming masterpiece, the first ever trailer for Joker: Folie À Deux has been released in the meantime — and one cinematically brilliant scene proves that Joker has finally found what he’s been looking for all this time.

The trailer finds Joker, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, being put in Arkham State Hospital where once, passing by one of the rooms, his glance captures Harley Quinn for the first time ever.

As the video later shows, the characters’ first meeting grows into something very deep that will eventually form their trusting relationships with both Joker and Harley truly caring about each other.

The trailer concludes with a short, yet fascinating and absolutely mind-blowing scene of Joker talking to Harley through the glass wall that separates them. During the conversation Harley draws a red smile on the glass with, presumably, her red lipstick, and asks Joker to show her what he really is.

The latter then lines up with the drawn line that in the final frame appears to look like the character’s own smile thus proving that he is more about Joker rather than Arthur Fleck.

The closing scene that made fans across the world thrilled about its cinematic perfection also may confirm Joker’s long-awaited rescue from one of his biggest insecurities. In the first film the character struggles with self-awareness as everybody around him never got to understand him and give him the love that he deserved.

The sequel’s trailer is clearly showing now that in the second movie Joker will find everything that he’s ever wanted in Harley — by embracing the smile drawn by the latter, Joker exposes his real self in front of her without any fear of being condemned or mocked.

Though the trailer may seem a bit delusional, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Joker: Folie À Deux is quite far from being a rom com, thus we’ll have to see what sinister aspects of their romantic story will yet unfold.

The movie is set to be released in theaters on October 4.
