The best neo-western show of recent years has every chance of returning for a second season.

Justified often appears on lists of the best TV shows of the 2010s, and for good reason. The brilliant adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novels is both neo-western and neo-noir, exploring honor and justice in the modern world.

Eight years after its completion, a spin-off was released — the TV show City Primeval. The crime drama once again tells the story of Marshal Raylan Givens, who comes from Miami to Detroit, where he makes a dangerous enemy. The ruthless criminal escaped justice thanks to his lawyer and now plans to get rid of the annoying Givens.

Justified: City Primeval Season 2 Fate Is Still Unknown

Those who watched the first season of the spin-off will remember that Boyd Crowder, played by Walton Goggins, the legendary antagonist of the original series, appeared in the finale of City Primeval, which hinted at the future storyline of the second season.

The reunion of Walton Goggins and Timothy Olyphant excited all fans of the series, but the fate of the second season is still unknown.

Goggins, however, gave fans a glimmer of hope that we will see a second season sooner or later:

“Oh yeah, everyone wants to do another lap of Justified. It’s just a matter of timing and whether or not FX wants to pick it up. I know what they want in their hearts. So we’ll see.”

And as we know, when the cast, the creators and the network are all in favor of continuing the series, the fans are just destined to see it. So all we have to do is be patient and wait for the official announcements.

Tarantino Had Thoughts About Adapting City Primeval

City Primeval is based on the book of the same name by Elmore Leonard. It was published in 1980 and for a long time haunted Quentin Tarantino, who had a soft spot for Leonard's work. He and Olyphant even discussed City Primeval on the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but ultimately agreed that the novel would make an excellent stand-alone season of Justified.

And they were absolutely right. It is impossible not to feel admiration when Olyphant appears on screen: his beard has grayed a bit, but his trusty hat is still there.

Raylan Givens escorts his naughty daughter (played by Timothy's own daughter Vivian) to a camp for troubled teens, but gets stuck in Detroit because of an assassination attempt on a local judge whose car was blown up by unknown criminals.

Givens is urged to find out who did it. Along the way, he solves other problems, not forgetting to raise his daughter.
