No Tom Hardy in 'MobLand' Season 3: The Actor Was Fired From the Show for Erratic Behavior
There are many examples in Hollywood of entire franchises collapsing because of one "difficult" actor.
MobLand premiered in 2025 and quickly became one of Paramount+'s most successful projects. It is currently the platform's second most popular original series, behind only Landman.
A second season has reportedly already been filmed, and Paramount is planning a third season, though without Tom Hardy. According to Puck journalist Matthew Belloni, the studio declined to renew its partnership with Hardy due to conflicts on set.
What Happened on the Set of 'MobLand' Season 2?

According to reports, Hardy was often late, tried to change his lines without permission, and frequently interfered with the script by suggesting his own edits.
The actor disliked that the project, which was initially built around his character, evolved into an ensemble show – Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and the other stars were getting more screen time.
According to sources, the situation escalated to a breaking point. One of the series' producers, Jez Butterworth, threatened to quit the project. Paramount was forced to make a choice, and they chose to part ways with Hardy.
Hardy's contract included an option to leave after the second season, so he wasn't formally fired. In reality, however, the split was initiated by the studio.
Representatives for Hardy and Paramount declined to comment on the matter, but the inside story seems plausible – it aligns too well with the actor's reputation.
The release date for the second season is still unknown, it will most likely be in 2026 or 2027. Paramount hasn't announced a date yet, but they are already discussing a third season. The writers will either explain Hardy's departure or reboot the show with a new lead.
Tom Hardy Has Had Conflicts on Movie Sets Before

This isn't the first time that colleagues have complained about Hardy's behavior. The most notorious example was on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. His co-star, Charlize Theron, spoke openly about the tense atmosphere on set. Hardy was frequently late, and the crew spent hours trying to get him out of his trailer.
Director George Miller confirmed at the time that Hardy can be difficult. Theron was more forthright, stating that Hardy was utterly unbearable to work with and that she would not agree to work with him again.
Another incident occurred while filming Lawless – Hardy got into a fight with Shia LaBeouf right on set.
MobLand is an expensive project that features A-list stars. If Hardy regularly disrupted filming and interfered with the script, it slowed down production and impacted the work of the other actors.
Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, people with experience and status, were unlikely to be thrilled by their colleague's constant improvisations, especially when he arrived hours late.
The paradox is that, without Hardy, MobLand might lose viewers because his character was the main star. However, it seems that with Hardy, the studio risked losing the entire project.
