Being an actor isn't always easy. Though once you reach a certain level of success, the job starts to pay well, not only in money, but in luxurious branded gifts, connections, and more opportunities to continue your career, there are still many drawbacks to the lifestyle.

Aside from being constantly in the public eye and the subject of endless online conversations, acting is also quite demanding, both physically and mentally. The industry is full of transformation stories of actors who have had to drastically change their appearance for a role, as well as actors who share the same struggle of learning their lines.

If you don't have a photographic memory and want to pursue a career in front of the camera or on stage, you may need to work on your study skills. Pedro Pascal is willing to share his for free, but it's unlikely that many people will use it.

Pedro Pascal’s Acting Secrets

Sitting at a virtual roundtable with Billy Crudup, Matthew Macfadyen and Kieran Culkin for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Pedro Pascal was ready to share the secrets that led him to being nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series at the 2024 SAG Awards.

As it turns out, like many people, The Last of Us star struggles a lot with learning the script and preparing for filming. In order to stay on top of his lines and not mess up the day's schedule, he came up with his own unique way of remembering the exact words on the page:

“This is like a psycho first letter of every word. You see the letters, right? Basically, I’m the Unabomber. <...> You use the first letter of each in these towers or columns, I guess, and it’s this very, very tedious way of making yourself learn the line so that you’re not making choices,” Pascal explained.

Of course, there's a time and a place for improvisation on any set, but when the production is as large and difficult as The Last of Us' The Mandalorian, and involves as much physical involvement in action sequences as it does mental, it's good to have a technique to make sure you always know what to say next.
