It's been 3 years since the Avengers: Endgame, but we're still hoping and waiting for the comeback of the one and only "Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist" who kick-started the entire MCU universe.

Fans all over the world talk, comment, and make videos about it. Some go all the way to come up with the most exquisite theories on how Marvel can properly put Iron Man Back in action. And at every comic con, public event, or fan greet and meet, RDJ gets all sorts of questions regarding this role. The same questions hit him when he made an appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast, where apart from everything else, he opened up about his thoughts on the comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

To kick off the conversation, Rogan asked, "is the door to Iron Man totally closed? Cause I don't believe it is," RDJ shrugged the theme off at first with, "If I pick the jersey back up and put it on, wouldn't you feel a little like "oh no…"?"

Marvel's Secret Wars Turning into Cameofest, and Fans Are Losing It

But as it turned out, Joe is a bit of a fan theorist himself, and he explained why he thinks the return is a very good idea:

"Here's what I think, they go through a few semi-lackluster Avengers movies without you. There's a moment where the world's fate is at stake, and they've realized they need a super genius. Then, they figure out how to restart that time machine. You step out of that machine, and the entire crowd goes wild."

To answer Joe's question, the actor said, "To me, starting up again is off the table. I feel like I've done all I could with that character." But don't worry just yet – RDJ knows the worth of his iconic character and goes on to add, "There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious. But the other thing is, I wanna do other stuff."

Even a little glimpse of hope can start a fire in the fandom. For now, we are watching the progression of MCU without Iron Man, and many fans agree that his death was one of the most meaningful ones, and bringing him back to life too soon or in the wrong way can undermine the significance of the sacrifice that he made. But there is still hope of getting our star back on track – we just need to wait till the other stars align.
