Ready for More Big Bang? Melissa Rauch on the Possibility of a Revival
Working on her new revival show got Melissa Rauch thinking about reprising her iconic role as Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz.
When the news that The Big Bang Theory was coming to an end hit the Internet, many fans were devastated. Even some cast members shared that they didn't expect the show to end after 12 seasons. Both cast and fans felt that the show could have gone a few more seasons, as it still had plenty of stories to tell and lots of heartwarming moments to capture.
Even though the finale was one of the best in television history, some fans insisted that The Big Bang Theory deserved a revival, pleading with CBS and the creators to bring back their favorite characters whose storylines were left open and easily continued.
But for the revival to happen, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady's wish is not enough. The stars must also agree to reprise their roles. And at least one of them said "never say never" to a Big Bang Theory revival.
Melissa Rauch, who played Bernadette on the beloved sitcom, told Looper that her new title role in the revival of Night Court, which aired from 1984 to 1992, got her thinking about a possible Big Bang reunion. The actress talked to John Larroquette, who played the narcissistic prosecutor in the original show, about returning for the revival and imagined what it would be like if someone came up to her and asked her to reprise the iconic role.
At that moment, the actress realized that she would want to protect the legacy of the brilliant work she and her colleagues had done on screen and would most likely say "no."
"I'd be like, 'Ah, no, [the show] ended so perfectly.' I would never want to tamper with that," the actress shared.
However, she did not completely dismiss the idea of a reunion. Rauch said the years might change her mind.
"30 years from now, if someone came knocking on my door the way I did to John — never say never," the actress said.
Okay, so 30 years is a long time to wait for the return of a beloved show, but fans will take what they can get. In the meantime, they can catch up with Melissa Rauch on Night Court, which is currently airing its first season on NBC.
