Two separate sources confirm Elseworld’s Gotham chose its new Harvey Dent.

Summary:

  • Director Matt Reeves is currently working on the sequel to Robert Pattinson ’s The Batman, but details are kept under wraps.
  • According to a recent report by BreakingFilm, Narcos’ Boyd Holbrook was cast as Two-Face in The Batman: Part II.
  • Earlier, IMDb confirmed that Holbrook’s stunt double Jake Tandy joined the project, supporting the later report.

Amid the DCEU’s everlasting troubles and eventual fall, Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson showed the audience the DC Universe that could have been. The first installment of the new franchise received overwhelmingly positive reviews, and Pattinson’s Caped Crusader is bound to continue on his quest to make Gotham a better place in a sequel.

A sequel that, apparently, tried to sneak in a new villain without all of us knowing.

Did Matt Reeves Cast His New Two-Face?

According to BreakingFilm’s sources, Boyd Holbrook recently received the final offer and was cast as Harvey Dent aka Two-Face — Gotham’s righteous prosecutor turned villain. Holbrook famously starred in Netflix ’s iconic TV show Narcos and Hugh Jackman ’s “final” (but not really) outing as Wolverine, movie Logan.

Earlier, IMDb revealed that Holbrook’s dedicated stunt double Jake Tandy joined The Batman: Part II, making this report even more likely. Tandy and Holbrook have been working together for years, and it only makes sense that the stunt double would join Matt Reeves’ sequel if the actor himself booked a part in it.

Officially, there’s been no confirmation of either of them joining The Batman’s team.

New Two-Face Has a Difficult Task Ahead

Whether it’s Boyd Holbrook or someone else, the new Two-Face will have quite some shoes to fit. After Christopher Nolan ’s The Dark Knight, the part of Harvey Dent is closely associated with Aaron Eckhart who portrayed the character in Nolan’s take on the Caped Crusader. Eckhart’s Two-Face was memorable and praised, and the new actor will need to make an interesting twist on the character to compete.

Considering there were rumors about The Batman: Part II introducing its new Joker, too, we’re potentially looking at The Dark Knight’s plot reimagined, which would be a risky move. After Matt Reeves’ first The Batman’s success, the director is in the same position as his new stars who will take over iconic villains: he needs to compete against his predecessors and himself.

But if the first movie is anything to judge by, we’re likely in the clear: Robert Pattinson’s original outing as the Caped Crusader has great 85 and 87% scores on Rotten Tomatoes and was generally well-received by audience and critics alike.
