The Handmaid’s Tale Episode 6 Just Killed the Last Hope for June and Nick’s Happy End

Although their relationship was doomed from the start, there was still hope for a happy ending for Nick and June. But now even the slightest chance has faded away. Why was that? Let's see.
The Handmaid's Tale season 6 premiered this month and caused quite a stir on social media. But it was only episode 6 that served as a major turning point in the development of June's romantic arc. From now on, it seems that the door to a happy ending for Nick and June is closed.
The long-running love triangle between June, Nick, and Luke has been central to the show, always keeping fans guessing who she would end up with: her husband or her Gileadean lover. In the latest episode, however, Nick did something that June may never be able to forgive.
Nick's Betrayal Defined It All
Picking up where episode 5 left off, Commander Lawrence begins working to get June out of Gilead and brings her to Nick, who agrees to help. After numerous challenges (most notably from Commander Wharton), Nick still says he will help June, only to betray her horribly afterwards.
The one who made him do it was actually Commander Wharton. At some point in episode 6, Nick realizes that the man paid him a visit, which led to a tense conversation that viewers mostly didn't hear. Later, June ends up at Serena Joy's house to reconnect with Nick, but then Wharton appears out of nowhere, forcing June to hide.
It was then that June heard in Wharton and Serena's conversation that it was Nick who told him about Mayday's plans to attack Jezebel's and escape. And that kind of betrayal is something June will never be able to let go of.
“Elizabeth Moss says Nick’s betrayal is the biggest thing that’s happened between them in the entire series. She says it was inevitable and with this “huge betrayal “ June finally sees Nick for who he is. Before all the Nick and June romance fans come for me.. I love every single character in this show. I was surprised to see how negative the writers think of him,” Redditor Balanceworkshop1969 said.
The way Nick arc developed was really shocking to many fans of The Handmaid’s Tale, who were already picturing the two of them together in Paris, but apparently Luke won the competition, even though he wasn't in the picture.
