Have you ever thought about this one?

The Winchester surname is something every Supernatural fan knows and loves (unless they've been rooting for Lucifer all along). There's also this other surname, which also has a lot of meaning for the fandom, particularly for the part that thinks season 5 was the best one.

You know this surname: it's Colt.

Ah, the good old times when we thought that finding the weapon that was able to harm Lucifer was the biggest problem in the world for Sam and Dean Winchester.

We don't know about you, but we immediately hear Crowley advising the brothers to "not miss, okay, morons?!".

But back to business.

It turns out that the use of the Winchester surname for the brothers, as well as the Colt surname for the only weapon that was of any use against the devil might not have been that much of an accident after all.

As noted by Redditor AlkahestGem, the mere introduction of the Colt weapon into the Supernatural universe could have been a nod to Samuel Colt, as well as to the gentleman's agreement between him and another firearm maker, who was named... Oliver Winchester.

Originally covered by Points West magazine, the agreement between the two postulated that each of them would stick to their own area of expertise without sabotaging the work of another.

Thus, Colt would only be making the revolver, and Winchester would produce and perfect rifles. Both end up with handsome profits, and neither feels robbed.

Naturally, we don't know whether it was an actual nod to Colt-Winchester rivalry. However, the historical parallel works so perfectly with Supernatural one can't help but consider it canon.

After all, who cares about what exactly is canon and what is not? With Supernatural long over (even though many people agree it should have been over by season 5, and not season 15), it's not the time to argue about that.

However, if you have a plus one in Supernatural head canons now, we're at your service.
