Apparently, there are still gentlemen in Hollywood. But why did MobLand’s main star Tom Hardy even have to consider paying his colleagues wages?

MobLand’s Tom Hardy was ready to offer his own money for his colleagues on the set of the show when it was still named Fixer and hadn't broken Paramount’s viewership records.

According to a report by The Times, production companies behind MobLand, 101 Studios and MTV Studios, hired Helix 3D to build the set and paid 50 freelance construction workers to help. They completed the set over the summer.

However, just before Christmas, the company went bankrupt, leaving £250,000 ($317,000) in unpaid wages. When Tom Hardy found out, he offered to pay the builders himself.

“He offered to [pay]. But the production and Paramount have sorted the payment,” a source told The Times.

Hardy's offer to personally cover the wages of the workers was not only a display of his generosity but also an effort to ensure they were not left to shoulder the financial burden of the reported mismanagement.

However, according to The Times, the studio bosses were “outraged” when they found out and quickly handled the situation themselves. Still, The Broadcasting, Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union criticized Helix 3D's actions, highlighting the distress caused to workers during the Christmas holiday season.
