The actor may be leaving Yellowstone, but it seems you won't miss him in cowboy boots.

Kevin Costner became a true star in the late 80's after performing in many critically acclaimed films such as The Untouchables and Field of Dreams. And his fan base doubled after his brilliant performance in the iconic The Bodyguard.

But Costner has also starred in his share of classic western movies. His Yellowstone 's character John Dutton is certainly one of the best, but there are still many other movies and even series you can watch now if you think you are not ready to let go of Costner the Western guy.

5. Let Him Go (2020)

Costner appears before his fans as a retired sheriff who, together with his wife, tries to save their grandson from a dangerous family. Although the film is considered a neo-western genre, it still has all the elements of Costner's other traditional westerns.

4. Hatfields & McCoys (2012)

This is the miniseries that mainly focuses on the ongoing fight between the Hatfield and McCoy families. Kevin Costner plays one of the main characters, William "Devil Anse" Hatfield himself. The conflict that arises between these families makes for a tense drama worth watching for any die-hard Costner fan.

3. The Highwaymen (2019)

In this relatively new movie, Kevin Costner plays a character named Frank Hamer who, along with his partner Maney Gault, tries to track down the infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde. This movie is considered to be one of Kevin Costner's best movies on Netflix, although it actually received a lot of mixed reviews.

2. A Perfect World (1993)

This early 90's movie was directed by Clint Eastwood. And although it was not very successful commercially, it is still considered to be one of his best works. It stars Costner as the main character Butch Haynes, an escaped convict who takes a little boy hostage during his escape from the law.

1. Open Range (2003)

This is the movie that Costner directed and starred in. The film follows his character Charley Waite. He is a ranch hand who, along with his partner, seeks justice and fights to take revenge for the death of one of their men after running into trouble with a gang in the small town in Montana.

The movie was a box office success and was also well received by critics and audiences. So now it's a must see – especially if you still can’t wrap your mind around Costner’s abrupt Yellowstone exit.
