Aemond to Go Full Daenerys Mode in 'House of the Dragon' Season 3, Fans Predict

Ewan Mitchell’s character is about to get a higher position in House of the Dragon’s season 3, but fans think Aemond’s good times won’t last long. Here’s what the predictions are ahead of the third season’s release.
Things are about to go messier in House of the Dragon’s next season, currently expected to be dropped next year, and some fear there might be a huge Game of Thrones deja vu moment coming.
The show’s next instalment, despite not inducing much enthusiasm among fans, now promises to feature all the major events that will shape the Targaryens’ future as all members of the dynasty will get involved in a war for the Iron Throne.
Based on George Martin’s “Fire & Blood”, House of the Dragon is still not likely to be faithful to its source material, so many fans are now predicting another major plot twist for Aemond Targaryen – and it has something to do with Daenerys’s tragic fate.
‘House of the Dragon’ Fans Think Aemond Will Descend Into Madness in Season 3
Despite being quite an uneventful instalment, House of the Dragon second season still gave its viewers some food for thought when Aemond’s sister Helaena Targaryen delivered a prophecy saying that the former would die in the God’s Eye and would never be seen again after being swallowed by its waters.
Aemond’s inferior position at his brother’s court was more than enough for him to be depressed about; in fact, the lack of his family’s recognition made Aemond feel quite isolated and lonely, which is what Daenerys was experiencing after losing almost all of her allies.
This led some fans to a suggestion that Aemond might repeat (or, in this case, foreshadow) his descendant’s fate by going completely mad because of the prophecy and all the pressure he has been living with.
“He’s probably going to go completely insane. After Helaena prophesied his death, he’s probably going to do all he can to prevent it and it’s just going to drive him crazy”, Redditor FILMSTUDENT25 commented in a thread.

Aemond’s Death Might Not Happen Until Season 4
Even though in George Martin’s novel the character dies during one of the most important battles of the entire war, some fans also speculated whether House of the Dragon creators would want to get rid of one of their best characters that soon.
Since Aemond is everyone’s favorite even while being a major villain, it might be risky for showrunner Ryan Condal to follow Martin’s storyline in this case.
“They've already F'ed up the writing so much they don't want to get rid of both their prime eye candy pieces until the very last moment”, Runestone379 wrote, convinced that Aemond’s death won’t happen until season 4.
“What I expect is whatever random bull—it the writers want. Characters are beholden to the plot, their temperament, behavior, wants, abilities, intelligence, change depending on what the writers want in the moment”, Bloodyjorts commented.
When Will ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 Be Released?
The show’s next instalment doesn’t have a release date yet, though it’s expected to arrive on HBO Max sometime in 2026.
