Both American Horror Story and Black Mirror have become titans of anthology television. They both excel at their respective genres.
AHS does horror pretty well, while Black Mirror knows a thing or two about a sci-fi dystopia. But which show is better? Let's dive in and find out together!
1. Consistency

Winner: ‘Black Mirror’
Nothing kills the momentum of a good binge session like hitting that one terrible episode or season.
Black Mirror keeps things tight with fewer episodes per season. And while it's had a couple of misses, the show generally maintains a higher quality. American Horror Story, for all its brilliance, suffers from more noticeable ups and downs. Early seasons set an impossibly high bar, while later offerings received more mixed reactions (to say the least).
2. Character Development
Winner: ‘American Horror Story’
The longer seasons give characters room to breathe and grow. We actually get attached to them, unlike Black Mirror where we're in and out of characters' lives in just one episode. Nothing wrong with that approach, but for deep character arcs, AHS takes the crown.

Winner: ‘Black Mirror’
Black Mirror is a straight-up genius when it comes to making us think about our own world. It basically holds up a mirror (get it?) to society. While AHS throws in some social commentary here and there, Black Mirror makes it the main event.

Winner: ‘American Horror Story’
The squad of recurring actors in AHS (like Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Jessica Lange) is simply iconic. Some of them show up season after season playing totally different characters, and they crush it every time. Black Mirror has some great guest stars, but AHS's familiar faces just take this one.
5. Rewatchability
Winner: Tie
Both shows are totally worth revisiting. American Horror Story rewards rewatches with all those little connections between seasons you might've missed. Meanwhile, Black Mirror episodes basically function as standalone movies, so you can easily dip back into your favorites without committing to a whole season. Win-win!
