Fans Call Out Major Casting Mistake in ‘Big Brother’ 27
After 25 years of watching strangers scheme, backstab and form unlikely alliances, Big Brother still can't figure out that viewers want to see people over 40 play the game too.
The iconic reality show Big Brother is gearing up for its 27th season, marking a massive milestone in reality TV history: the show's 25th anniversary. The anticipation is there, but there is also one thing that's missing.
The main issue: the majority of the cast is too young. We have 20-something youth and a little to no diversity age-wise. There are only 2 houseguests over 40 (Will Williams and Amy Bingham).
Why ‘Big Brother’ Needs More Age Diversity
Watching only 20-somethings play Big Brother gets old fast. The show desperately needs players from different age groups to shake things up.
When you mix people of different ages in the show, you get a way better TV. Different life experiences mean different gameplay. This clash of approaches would create way more interesting scenarios than watching the same types of people make the same moves season after season.

The main thing: viewers want to see people they can relate to and that includes fans of all ages who've been watching since the beginning.
Big Brother isn't the only show with this issue. From The Bachelor to Survivor, reality TV seems obsessed with casting young contestants while ignoring a huge segment of the population.
Fans Want More Diversity on ‘Big Brother’
“First big disappointment? The majority of the houseguests are, once again, in their 20s. Other thing is that many of them feel like casting from bad seasons we've seen,” Redditor jdessy wrote.
“At first I was a lil' iffy about how many HGs were in their 20s, but then I remembered looking at BB19's cast and thinking, ‘This is an older cast. Hopefully they'll play more with their heads and not so emotionally,’” another fan, PresidentJoe on Reddit pointed out.
“Can't believe they didn't go back to the “batty older woman” well after the success of Felicia and Angela,” Redditor Basedshark01 said.
