What we know so far.

Slow Horses is set to remain at Slough House for a seventh season, even before its fifth series has aired. Apple TV+ has officially greenlit the next instalment of the acclaimed spy drama, which stars Gary Oldman as the irascible Jackson Lamb, alongside Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jonathan Pryce.

Adapted from Mick Herron’s bestselling novels, Slow Horses has become one of Apple TV+’s standout hits. The forthcoming seventh season, based on Herron’s Bad Actors, will follow Lamb and his team as they race to uncover and neutralise a mole within the British government, a threat capable of toppling the state itself.

Interestingly, Season 5 is yet to debut, with its release scheduled for 24 September, while Season 6 was already approved last year. The sixth series will see the Slow Horses on the run, ensnared in a deadly game of revenge orchestrated by Diana Taverner (Scott Thomas). This season draws from Herron’s novels Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh books in the series respectively.

Jay Hunt, Apple TV+’s Creative Director for Europe, praised the show’s blend of “self-deprecating British humour and high-octane action,” expressing delight that audiences will have another season to savour Oldman’s “magnificent performance” as Jackson Lamb.

Oldman recently described Slow Horses as “truly international now.” Knighted earlier this year, Sir Gary Oldman admitted the honour left him “gobsmacked.”

Produced by See-Saw Films for Apple TV+, the series boasts an impressive roster of executive producers including Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Dan Hassid, Mick Herron, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and Oldman himself. Season 7 will be adapted and executive produced by Ben Vanstone, with Robert McKillop directing. See-Saw Films is currently part of Mediawan.
