Back in November 2023, Shigeru Miyamoto (the game creator) took to X to announce:
“I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films.”
Since then, the production has been kept under wraps. However, recent rumors may have revealed our potential future Zelda: Hunter Schafer.
Hunter Schafer Is Rumored to Be Eyed for Zelda
As early as 2023, when plans for the movie were first announced, Schafer expressed her desire to play Zelda.
“I love the game, personally. I played it as a kid and I still play it now. Who knows! That would be pretty cool,” she said during her talk with Variety.
Now, two years later, these dreams might become reality. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Schafer is reportedly being considered for the role of Princess Zelda.

Besides her uncanny resemblance to Princess Zelda, Schafer is also a talented and versatile actress. Her breakthrough in Euphoria showed us that she can handle complex, emotionally charged characters. This will definitely come in handy when she portrays Hyrule's princess.
But besides Euphoria, Schafer was in hits like The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and Cuckoo.

The opinions on Hunter Schafer potentially becoming Zelda are very different.
“I'd prefer if no name performers got the roles in movies. That said she's a dead ringer for Zelda and can act her ass off so this is good news if true,” Redditor Braindead_Crow wrote.
“I'm going to treat Hunter with the same scrutiny as I would any other woman for the role, and my opinion is she is not right for the role. She's 26 and as pretty as she is and similar to Zelda, she just isn't Zelda,” another fan, FreeEdmondDantes on Reddit said.
“I’m rooting for it because I honestly think she is a good choice for Zelda. Put some elf ears on her and I can see it,” Redditor FUNKYTravisP shared.

Despite not revealing all the details yet, The Legend of Zelda has already announced a release date: March 26, 2027.
