Jessica Lange Gives Brutal Response to 'American Horror Story' Comeback: “Christ No”
Jessica Lange says a firm “no” to American Horror Story return. Here's why she's not coming back for another season.
American Horror Story has a great recurring cast. We have Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, and many more. But there's one crucial family member who's been notably missing in recent seasons: the incomparable Jessica Lange.
For many of us, Lange was the beating, twisted heart of AHS during its best years. And if you've been holding out hope for her return, prepare to have those hopes absolutely crushed. When asked by GoLoud about potentially returning to the horror anthology series, Lange said:
“Oh Christ no. I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years. So, no. I’m not doing it.”
Jessica Lange Came Back For ‘AHS’ Season 8 Only to Play Constance Langdon
Jessica Lange last appeared in Season 8's “Apocalypse”, where she reprised her role as Constance Langdon from “Murder House”. In an interview with The Wrap, she explained why she made that brief comeback, by saying:
“I did this because it was recreating Constance, which was– for me, it was a very important time when I did that first season, ‘Murder House.’”
Why Lange Refuses to Step Back Into ‘American Horror Story’
There are 2 potential reasons why Jessica Lange is not coming back for another AHS season.
Reason #1: the show is super demanding. Filming a season of American Horror Story is months of intense work. With Lange's packed schedule and other projects she's passionate about, committing to AHS just doesn't fit anymore.
Reason #2: many fans (and possibly Lange herself) feel the show's quality has dipped in recent seasons. The early seasons that Lange starred in are widely considered AHS' Golden Era. Why risk your legendary status by coming back to a show that's not at its peak anymore?
Fans Get Why Lange Is Not Returning to ‘AHS’
“She’s so real for this because she’s not gonna stoop down to a show that casts Kim Kardashian just because it’s tanking so hard,” artpoppls on X wrote.
“It would be ofc awesome if Jessica Lange comes back, but the last few seasons weren’t that great so I don’t blame her. Plus Jessica apparently had a big say on the story, so it would mean more work for her. First 4 seasons + “Apocalypse” were the best,” Darkseid241 on X said.
