Josh Peck’s character in The Last of Us’ latest episode didn’t last long, but the actor’s brief appearance provided another huge twist in the fight between the WLF and the Seraphites. Here’s why Peck’s role is important for the HBO show.

The Last of Us ’ most recent episode went on without any flashback scenes with Pedro Pascal ’s Joel, but still brought a couple of other stars to the screen, this time featuring Drake & Josh’s actor Josh Peck in a minor, but still crucial role.

The show keeps delving into the details of the conflict between the Washington Liberation Front (aka WLF) and the Seraphites, getting ready to follow the two groups as they enter a full-scale war sometime in future episodes.

Peck’s role, however, highlights yet another major problem the post-apocalyptic world’s citizens have to face, and that’s where FEDRA soldiers prove themselves just as ruthless as any most radical group out there.

Who Is Josh Peck’s Soldier in The Last of Us?

In the second season’s episode 4, Peck portrays an unnamed FEDRA soldier who appears in the very first and pretty intimidating sequence as he’s seen accompanied by his fellow soldiers in an armoured truck that crosses Seattle in 2018.

The character reveals some shocking details about FEDRA’s encounter with people he calls “voters” when Jeffrey Wright’s Isaac intervenes, explaining that “voters” are people who live in the quarantine zone and who were deprived of their democratic rights by FEDRA.

This is the reason why the agency uses a sarcastic nickname for those citizens to remind them once again of their worthlessness and helplessness before the armoured group.

Even though he doesn’t get to live long after that conversation, Peck’s character still manages to unravel horrifying truth about FEDRA, proving just how oppressive and merciless its members can be when it comes to gaining power at the expense of ordinary citizens.

It is later confirmed by Isaac who gets disillusioned and abandons FEDRA, also trying to contribute to its destruction by killing all those soldiers in the truck.

Even though the show is yet to prove this as well, in the game the agency doesn’t get much respect from its fellow radical groups either, with the WLF not shying away from calling FEDRA members fascists and the Seraphites constantly avoiding any contact with them whatsoever.

When Is The Last of Us’ Next Episode Coming?

The show’s season 2 episode 5 will be released on Max on May 11. The following episodes will also air every Sunday until May 25.
