And that’s quite an easy way to do so.

Kendrick Lamar has been having a time of his life in the last couple of weeks, first sweeping the Grammys and taking home 5 golden gramophones, then stealing the show at Super Bowl just a week later.

However, things might get even better for the singer who is currently working on his first-ever movie; despite its plot details being kept under wraps, the future flick has all chances to become one of the frontrunners at the awards season depending on when exactly it’s planned to be released.

Additionally, the film has an even bigger incentive to go for those big awards since only one of them is left for the upcoming movie’s creators to finally get a major status change.

Kendrick Lamar Is Collaborating With South Park Creators For a Live-Action Comedy

The news first flooded the media back in September, when the singer was spotted on the movie’s set alongside South Park’s co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker in California.

The official announcement came a couple of years earlier as, back in 2022, Variety reported that Lamar was set to produce the future flick.

There’s still not so much to say about the film’s storyline, but the official synopsis promises that it will “depict the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man, who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum, discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his”.

Fans Are Reassured Stone and Parker Are Getting That Oscar Thanks to Kendrick Lamar

Though it’s not yet clear if the singer is on board as only one of the producers or will have another role after all, his fandom just brought up a very specific idea which would potentially get Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s careers to a whole new level.

Fans gathered by the news about the future movie on Reddit delved into the idea that Kendrick Lamar might have also worked on the music for the film which, given the musician’s recent success, is likely to be considered for the awards season if it does happen to be true.

“My theory is that this project is Stone and Parker’s attempt at completing the EGOT. They only need an Oscar, and if they co-write a song with Kendrick, it probably has a fighting chance at winning a best Original Song Oscar if it’s halfway decent”, Redditor unlizenedrave suggested.

EGOT is an achievement of landing all four major creative awards — Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, that is. South Park’s creators already own at least one Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Awards and so far have only been deprived of an Oscar.

Stone and Parker got their first Emmy for South Park in 2005 (only to achieve the milestone again four times after that). Later that year, the duo secured a Tony award, taking home awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score — and Parker also won Best Direction of a Musical. In 2012, their The Book of Mormon scored the Grammy award for Best Musical Theater Album.
