Silo's Perfect Replacement Is Maybe the Best Dystopian Show of 2025

Another take on an alternative life.
There's something about sci-fi shows that makes you want more with every new one you watch. And the truth is, the industry is getting so much better at giving us quality series about different types of dystopian societies and alternate lives.
Two of the most popular dystopian shows are actually AppleTV+’s Severance and Silo. Both of them are right now on their second seasons and both are generating a lot of buzz with each episode that comes out.
However, while Severance is more about personal struggles framed in tech context, Silo gives a more complex look on a dystopian life and alternate universe setting. And we are absolutely thrilled that another show that focuses on almost the same premise just landed on Hulu.
The new show is called Paradise and it premiered on the platform on January 26.
Paradise Is a Perfect Sci-fi Slowburn That Will Test Your Patience
Paradise is a political thriller created by Dan Fogelman. It follows Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent who becomes involved in the investigation of President Cal Bradford's assassination.
The plot takes a dramatic turn when it's revealed that the characters are living in an underground bunker after a global catastrophe. After this jaw-dropping revelation, the series becomes even more moody and intriguing, diving deeper into themes of power, control, and human nature in a closed society.
Paradise is a perfect example of dystopian fiction where the controlled environment and the illusion of a perfect society serve as a backdrop to explore the fragility of human nature and the consequences of absolute power.
While the series may seem like a slow burn at first, the shocking twists and turns that await you at almost every turn make it a must watch.
“Almost gave up on the first episode, it was honestly so boring, glad I stuck with it till the end. The therapy scene had me blubbering like a baby, with great writing and acting,” Redditor Foreign_Plate_4372 said.
Paradise is available to stream on Hulu. New episodes arrive on Wednesdays.
