Silo Showrunner Teases What’s in Store for Season 3

The next instalment of Apple TV+’s major hit Silo is now likely to unveil one of the entire show’s biggest mysteries.
Launched back in 2023, Silo starring Dune ’s actress Rebecca Ferguson has quickly become one of Apple TV+ ’s most successful series, proving that there’s no one else to get close to the streamer when it comes to brain-scratching sci-fi shows.
Throughout its current run of 2 seasons, Silo has left many questions unanswered, but that might not be the case that big even before the show will ultimately wrap it all up after the fourth season.
With quite plenty of mysteries waiting to be resolved, probably the biggest one will finally open the truth to the audiences as, according to Silo’s showrunner, this is about to happen in season 3.
Silo Season 3 Will Address The Safeguard Procedure Issue
Despite the show deriving its storyline from Hugh Howey’s trilogy of books, Silo has so far introduced many details that didn’t make much sense even to those familiar with the original books.
One of those is the safeguard procedure and everything surrounding its origin, purpose and functioning; however, this won’t be that much of a secret after season 3 premieres, according to Silo’s showrunner Graham Yost.
Talking about the series’ future to Radio Times, Yost teased the upcoming season’s better focus on the matter, saying that “there is this thing called the Safeguard, which is... this other silo can kill a silo within minutes essentially by poisoning them. And why would they do that? How? What is going on?"
He then proceeded, adding that the mysterious protocol won’t be the only secret unveiled in season 3 as Silo’s team hopes to have more questions answered by the time the series’ final season kicks off.
“We always wanted that feeling that there's something... that it's not a bad society in a silo. People got jobs, they got food, they got medical care… But there's something weird about fertility and who gets to have children and there's other things. The Pact is kind of weird... And that gives us some place to go in the future”, Yost concluded.
Graham Yost Promises Silo’s Finale Will Be Satisfying
While it might make sense to keep the intrigue alive throughout Silo’s third season, there definitely won’t be much mystery in the show’s last season, and Yost confirmed it several months ago.
In an interview with Deadline back in December, the showrunner reassured fans that Silo’s two last installments will be more focused on unveiling long-standing secrets rather than creating new ones.
“With the final two chapters of Silo, we can't wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos”, Yost promised back then.
In the meantime, Silo’s season 3 is currently expected to arrive on Apple TV+ sometime in 2026.
