Ted Lasso Season 4 Is Cooking a Huge Plot Twist: Here’s What We Know

Apple TV+’s hit sports drama has been recently renewed for another highly anticipated installment.
Fans of Apple TV+ ’s series Ted Lasso just got another reason to be excited about the hit show’s upcoming fourth season.
The Jason Sudeikis- led sports comedy drama seemingly wrapped things up with its third season back in 2023, though viewers had a feeling that something didn’t quite look like a solid ending after all.
It was only recently confirmed that Ted Lasso will be back on Apple TV+ with another instalment, probably reuniting Sudeikis with his co-stars Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammad and Jeremy Swift among others.
However, this might not be the only reason to celebrate the upcoming fourth season as, according to Ted Lasso’s lead star, new episodes will also feature an unexpected, though not less exciting plot twist.
Jason Sudeikis Says a Big Change Is Coming for Ted Lasso’s Plot Line in Season 4
Apparently, the show is aiming at expanding its own limits by bringing Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso back with a completely new and challenging mission.
Talking about what’s in store for the series’ future season on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the actor revealed his character will be back on track, now coaching a women’s team.
He also added that he’s currently busy writing new episodes, so fans might not want to expect the upcoming season to be released earlier than mid-2026 or even later.
Fans Were Divided Over Ted Lasso’s Women’s Team Season 4 Rumour
Jason Sudeikis’ recent confirmation about Ted Lasso’s changed direction in season 4 isn’t the first time the whole matter emerged in social media.
Several weeks ago, a rumour about the show also suggested Ted Lasso’s next instalment would now focus on a women’s team, pulling away from its main story. Back then, the show’s fans reaction was controversial, with some being obviously excited about a big change and others slamming the series for the same reason.
“This is a completely different show, so make it a spin off”, Redditor okiedokiewo suggested, while another user Bananakin said the fourth season’s plot twist would be “a logical move, tho I do hope we see some familiar faces as cameos”.
However, many still admitted they were dumbfounded by such a possibility, and not in the best way, with Redditor darfka revealing they’re “feeling a bit split. On one hand, I'm always excited for more Ted Lasso but on the other hand, doesn't that mean that we are going to lose most of our favorite male actors (or they'll only get small roles)?”
It’s not yet clear whether the upcoming season’s changed storyline will have its toll on recurring male characters’ screen time.
