He was a bad guy in Yellowstone and 1883, but did way better in Sheridan’s latest hit Landman.

Having signed a major deal for years to come, Taylor Sheridan keeps providing Paramount+’s platform with new installments of his ongoing shows as one of those, a prequel to Yellowstone titled 1923, debuted on streaming with its second and final season back in February.

The creator of his own Western-y universe, Sheridan has been long admired for his ability to make perfect fits for his characters by finding the best actors for a role; however, it might become a surprise for some to find out that one of those actors was just too good to end up with only one role.

What’s even more to it, he had a long path across Sheridan’s series and eventually received a role that completely made it up to the previous — and pretty evil — ones.

James Jordan Starred in Taylor Sheridan’s 3 Shows

Continuing his long-lasting collaboration with the writer-director, Jordan made his first appearance in Sheridan’s feature series Yellowstone launched all the way back in 2018. In it, the actor portrayed Steve Hendon, a Montana Livestock Association agent.

Presented as a bad guy, Steve might not be the most popular choice when it comes to picking Yellowstone’s most outstanding characters. Often abusing his power, Steve was seen shooting a teenager when a conflict escalated after he tried to arrest another local for killing the cattle.

He then also killed two horse thieves, despite having a pretty clear instruction of just keeping them in fear of what might happen once they do the same.

Additionally, James Jordan is also up for minor roles in Yellowstone’s prequel 1883, portraying Cookie whose fatal mistake leads to James Dutton’s daughter Elsa being killed, and in Landman, where the actor took on the role of Dale, Tommy’s longtime friend and housemate.

Landman Is a Major Update for James Jordan’s Part in Sheridan’s Western Series

Things shift quite radically in Sheridan’s latest hit show Landman, and it’s not only for another Western-y compelling story. The series also offers a different perspective of Jordan’s characters, showing Dale as a mild and pretty much unbothered petroleum engineer who doesn’t have any intention to become the centre of the entire drama.

While Jordan’s Steve Hendon and Cookie take on bigger roles as soon as they become the ones to push the plot forward, Dale in Landman doesn’t do anything in particular, mostly discussing daily business with Tommy and lamenting the latter’s wife and daughter’s decision to move in.

Despite the character’s quirky personality, it’s still much easier to like him rather than Jordan’s two other roles.
