‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Release Window Revealed After Filming Wraps
The next season of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings extension received a major update just days ago, but don’t expect to see The Rings of Power’s return to the screen anytime soon.
Things have been pretty complicated in the TV industry during the recent couple of years, with 2023’s massive Hollywood strikes putting many ongoing projects’ production on hold or causing a significant delay in new seasons’ arrival.
This has also been the biggest concern among many of such shows’ fans, and Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power isn’t an exception either.
With its latest second season being released more than a year ago, the hit fantasy show has been going quite slowly with its new instalment, and now fans are pretty sure there won’t be a long-awaited premiere next year.
‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Has Just Wrapped Shooting

Since the show’s seasons 1 and 2 were filmed back-to-back, with them being released in 2022 and 2024 respectively, there’s nothing else left but a sign of The Rings of Power’s third instalment probably taking even longer to arrive on Prime Video.
For now, it was confirmed several days ago that the third season finished filming and will soon go into an active post-production phase, promising new characters and storyline in upcoming episodes.
However, since the show’s next instalment has yet to stay in the editor’s room for several months, it’s very likely that The Rings of Power’s new season will be released in the fall of 2026, which makes it a gap of two years between seasons 2 and 3.
Prime Video will announce the premiere date eventually.
‘The Rings of Power’ Fans Can’t Stop Complaining About the Show’s Slow-Paced Production

As it was reported earlier, the cast and crew reunited to film The Rings of Power’s season 3 back in August, starting roughly a year after the second season premiered and wrapping the part of the production in November.
Despite finishing earlier than it was predicted (some sources stated that the series’ new instalment would be filming until the end of December), The Rings of Power’s fans still found it atrocious enough to wait so long to come back to the show after the previous season.
“Starting production a full year after the last season aired...what is wrong with them??” badlyagingmillenial complained in a Reddit thread.
“This can't be right. No way Amazon waited nearly a full year after the previous season ended before going into production for the next”, braumbles agreed.
“It's biggest flaw is that it's boring. I wouldn't mind a fantasy series loosely inspired by Lord of the Rings, I don't really think an adaptation has to be faithful. It's just dull”, iambeingblair chimed in.
