Have you noticed one thing about the Young Sheldon series which makes it totally different from the original The Big Bang Theory show? Young Sheldon never celebrates Christmas!

As the series represents young Sheldon 's account of the most important events in his childhood, the holiday seems to be out of his focus – as strange as it may seem – because for his religious mother Christmas should mean a lot. It is simply unbelievable that we never see Mary who is a church worker singing carols during this festive season of the year.

In TBBT, Sheldon is a grown-up person who believes in science and its achievements. And the original series sort of promotes his atheism but at the same time TBBT has lots of Christmas celebrations moments.

Sheldon could be really angry about the church because it mistreated his mother in such a horrendous way when the only thing she needed was support – she was fired from church in light if George getting Mandy pregnant. This definitely didn't go unnoticed by the young man. Also, he should definitely have questions to ask a seemingly charitable organization, which is meant to support and provide help when it simply turns its back on those in need.

For Sheldon this should have amounted to outright hypocrisy and it is likely that this hypocrisy and contradiction in terms contributed to his later atheism. Seeing what the church did to his mother who has always been a devout believer sacrificing her life to the organization he had most likely thought that it could be even worse with those who are not that loyal.

So he just kicks Christmas out of his childhood memories.

The funny thing here is that when he desperately needed help he turned to God – although in a funny way. Remember when the friends wanted to buy Star Wars movie tickets in Season 9 Episode 11 but the website was frozen? And this when Sheldon started praying saying that it goes against everything he stands for but God and his mother are great pals, so it may help and makes sense.

Previously, we've learnt that the portrayal of Sheldon's father George in Young Sheldon is exactly the opposite to what Sheldon has been telling everyone in TBBT about him. In contrast, his dead is shown in Young Sheldon as a positive and a caring person.

There are so many interesting takes from Young Sheldon, which sort of contradict The Big Bang Theory narrative that it is simply captivating. The only thing for us to do is to keep watching.
